Blogging As A Marketing Tool

-->

The term Blog actually derives from web log. It is an online website made in a journal style. It allows other readers the opportunity to post comments and links back to their own blogs. Blogs are updated regularly and the term blogging is the process of updating the blog. The person doing the updates is called a blogger.

Traditionally blogging is used as a virtual online diary where the bloggers share their own personal information and views. Recently there is a change in trend where it is used as a platform to promote their internet business and other websites. Blogging is a sure fire method to increase the visibility of various products and services.

Blogging Tips

1) Offer free advice and give valuable tips to your visitors. Showcase other opportunities that are related to your business. Always aim to give more than to receive. The main objective is to increase your web presence throughout the whole internet community. This will then make you an authority in your chosen niche and increase your credibility of your business which will eventually lead to higher sales.

2) Allow and encourage your readers to post comments and give feedbacks. Promote interaction between the readers and yourself. These will be very helpful as it will encourage more traffic and visitors to your website. Treat the feedback given by the readers seriously and use it to improve your website design, layouts and content.

3) Post regularly in your blog. At least twice a week and that is a minimum. Always make your blog fresh and up to date. In this manner, search engines will include your website in their directory listings. If you blog is listed with different search engines, you will start to have increased traffic for free.

When your visitors revisit and they see old content, they will get bored and not come back again. Blogging platform like Wordpress will automatically keep your old postings inside the Archives and Monthly sections. Visitors can then do a search and retrieve your old postings.

4) Allow others to reprint your articles that you had written to be posted on other websites. However they need to seek your permission first and they also need to agree to post with your resource box and all URLs intact. This will give you more links and thus enhances exposure to your blog.

5) You can collaborate with other webmasters to exchange links if you all have similar content. This will help to improve your search engine rankings. A very important thing to note is not to participate in link farms.

6) Have some form of advertising through banners and affiliate links. This will allow you to earn extra income. An example of an affiliate program is Google Adsense.

Blogging is a simple yet effective method to create content for your website. You do not need to know sophisticated web authoring tools to start. As this is your own blog, you can write anything you wish e.g. personal opinions, ideas, topics of interest, pictures and even videos. You can also use blogs to broadcast important news and events. Just make sure that your blog is interesting and clear and you will have your visitors returning daily.
